Protecting your privacy is important to us. Because of this, we want you to understand that we collect nonpublic information about you, the types of nonpublic information that we obtain, to whom we disclose nonpublic information about you, and how we safeguard the nonpublic information.
How We Obtain Information About You
We obtain nonpublic information about you during the account opening process and from the transactions that you make with others and us. The types of nonpublic information we obtain may include tax ID or social security numbers, investment objectives, assets, risk tolerance, investment experience, and transaction history. We may also receive nonpublic information about you from companies affiliated with us or from other companies that provide services to you. We do not use nonpublic information received from our affiliates for marketing purposes. We obtain nonpublic information about you so that we may correctly identify you, prevent unauthorized access to your records, design and improve the products and services we offer, conduct transactions on your behalf, and comply with the various laws and regulations that require us to obtain such information.
To Whom and What We Disclose
We do not sell or disclose any nonpublic information about you or any of our former customers to any unaffiliated third parties, except as required or permitted by law. We may, however, disclose the nonpublic information we have about you, even if you are no longer our customer, to the following:
- our affiliates, but not for marketing purposes;
- other companies when it is necessary to use the information to provide services to you. For example, we may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to broker/dealers when executing transactions on your behalf; and
- other companies when you request or authorize us to do so.
Confidentiality and Security
To protect nonpublic information about you, we restrict access to such information to only those employees and authorized agents who need to use the information. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to maintain the confidentiality and security of nonpublic information about you. In addition, if we disclose nonpublic information about you to another company or person that provides services to you or us, we require the company or person also to maintain the confidentiality and security of such information.
Additional Rights and Amendments
In addition to the protections described in this notice, you may have other privacy protections under state law. In such event, we will comply with all applicable state laws relating to the protection and privacy of nonpublic information about you. The policies described in this notice do not apply to your relationship with other financial service providers. We may amend our privacy policies at any time. However, to the extent required by law, we will inform you of any such changes before they become effective.
